Well, to us, anyway. No doubt there are many, many folks out there who are much more hardcore than we are, but this qualifies as a masterclass for us.
Last time I wrote about various devices to use for spanking besides one’s hand. There are, of course, far more options than the ones I listed, but hopefully, those ideas got you started.
As mentioned previously, and on more than one occasion, Bonnie and I began our spanking adventure with much caution. As the years have gone by, and we have experimented with different furniture, toys, positions, etc., she discovered a more robust liking for discipline than either of us first imagined.
The first implement I will discuss are called floggers. We first tried the Provoke Flogger, purely because it can be wielded relatively softly. It has very long and soft falls, that are quite deceptive. Your sub may think he/she is out of the woods if you begin rather tamely with this, but later on, you can slowly (or quickly) add to the gusto. And believe me (or rather, believe Bonnie), when she says this baby can be intense. Besides all that, did you check out the handle? In addition, it is a truly beautiful 
piece, and feels great in the hand.
Another flogger we have used frequently is the basic flogger shown here. 
This one packs somewhat more bang for the buck, so to speak. Of course, you can use more or less force, but it never really has the softness of the Provoke. And that’s just fine, because we always want to keep them guessing, right?
One more toy I’m going to introduce you to in this installment is one we don’t actually have yet, but I believe it is on Bonnie’s wishlist. That is The Strap. This one is described as 
being sort of between a paddle and a thick leather belt, and it supposedly packs quite the sting.
Bonnie wanted me to mention that my quasi-disclaimer at the beginning of this post, that of many people being much more hardcore than we are, deserved a bit of elaboration. Bonnie is not afraid to admit that she likes marks to be left on her skin, but both of us have drawn a firm line at breaking the skin. We do have implements that could conceivably do that, but we are careful that this does not happen.
As always, however, you may have different desires, and those are up to you and your partner, with the caveat that these sessions are always consensual.
I went longer than I had planned, so I will save my final installment on spanking (or better, discipline) for next time. In that on, I will discuss whips.
