A good question. A disclaimer is in order here—we build bondage furniture, so I wanted to get that out in the open right off the bat. Truthfully, I began building bondage furniture for us because I thought it would be fun, sexy, and interesting. More so than tying her to the door frame, or figuring out how to tie her to the bed.
Don’t get me wrong—we like the memories of those beginning steps into bondage. When we travel, I bring along an assortment of toys that always includes rope, hooks, cuffs, and other toys. The days of figuring out how to use whatever I could find still come in handy, and I am not in any way knocking them.
But there was no doubt that we would eventually move on if I had anything to say about it. I’m no stranger to the wood shop, and I had all sorts of design ideas in my head. I first produced a prototype of the medieval pillory stock —God, have we had fun with that.
But why the heck would you want to spend your hard-earned money on custom-built bondage furniture like this? For the same reason we, and all of our customers wanted to. For more fun and variety in your sex life. It’s also an unbelievable turn-on, and who isn’t looking for that?
If you are a true BDSM enthusiast, or enthusiast wanna-be, you will want a piece of furniture before long. There’s just something about fulfilling your fantasy (and admit it guys…you have these fantasies) of tying your partner up to some bondage or dungeon furniture and having your way with her.
Whether your way includes any discipline, or you just like the idea of tying your partner up while you have sex, is immaterial. One can certainly lead into the other, as it did for us.
Note: I mentioned in a previous post that I write from the perspective of a heterosexual male-dominant/female-submissive relationship. If your situation is different, same-sex, whatever, please don’t think I am leaving you out—it’s just easier not to have to type him/her and all that other stuff I would have to do. These products work just as well for reverse roles, or same-sex roles. This is an all-inclusive site.
Back to fantasy world and what it has to do with bondage. Bonnie read the Fifty Shades of Grey books a few years ago. We keep busy around here, and aren’t too up on the latest cultural phenomena. But anyway, from nosing around on the internet searching about the books, we found they had a BDSM element to them, and that women practically swooned over the books.
Imagine that, especially since the writing kinda stinks. But I told you earlier that many (I’m guessing most) women, if they are honest with themselves, secretly, or openly have fantasies about being dominated, whether or not they ever intend to act upon them.
Now, the guy in the books is a billionaire, so you can bet he has a fully-equipped bondage room in his mansion. And he probably did not build the furniture himself. He also likely does not need to hide it away when the relatives visit, or the kids get nosy. But I digress. I was talking about why you would want to purchase this type of furniture. I am trying to show you that both men and women like the idea of bondage, whether to a mild or strong degree.
And when they try it and like it, they are going to want more toys. Some of those toys we call, for lack of a better word, furniture. I read a definition of furniture: equipment that is necessary, useful, or desirable. So I guess what we make fits that definition—it is certainly desirable.
Our furniture is special in another way, too. For those of us who are not billionaires like Christian Grey, or have family members who don’t share our idea of a good time, we may need to put the toys away somewhere. How to put away a suspension frame? It’s big! Fortunately, here at Bonnie and Clyde, I have designed every piece of furniture to disassemble so it fits into its original shipping box. No piece is longer than 48 inches, or wider than 24 (and most are smaller).
While there are many other reasons to stock your toy room with a piece of our handmade bondage furniture, I hope this has given you some ideas.
Until next time,
~Clyde
